Co-opted Governor
Committees: Curriculum & Progress Committee
I have worked and volunteered in education for the past 20 years and am currently a Year 5 teacher in a local primary school. I successfully applied to become a Governor at The Priory School 5 years ago and have found the experience an invaluable link to the world of education while I stepped away from teaching to concentrate on having two children of my own. Prior to this career break, I spent 5 years teaching English abroad to both adults and children before returning to London to complete my PGCE and teach English in London secondary schools for 10 years.
During recent years as well as volunteering as a Governor at The Priory I have served as a trustee of a local charity supporting families with children who have ADHD and autism and as a trustee of a local pre-school and nursery. I am committed to ensuring that children of all ages are supported in finding their voice and expressing themselves as effectively as possible and believe firmly that all children and young adults have a right to be heard.
As well as enjoying the pleasures and pains of parenting two young children, I am a voracious reader of all kinds of fiction and non-fiction and a regular attendee of the local board games club.
