I have 30 years of policing experience across a range of disciplines, including Counter Terrorism and Serious and Organised Crime so understand the importance and complexities of safeguarding and having robust governance, policies and audit in place to ensure professionalism and accountability. I am used to setting strategy and analysing performance to measure success and identify areas for improvement, encouraging constructive challenge. I exited policing as Head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office and used my skills and experience to transfer into the private sector where I’m now the Head of Business Resilience at Tesco. This transition has helped me relate to students as they set off on their own journeys to achieving their aspirations, overcoming challenges and flexing along the way.
I am also a mentor, assisting young women from challenging backgrounds to recognise their self-worth and achieve their potential; I am often in awe at the personal resilience they display. Of course, academic achievement is important, but it’s TPS’ core values and inclusive approach that first attracted me to the school as both a parent and a school governor and is what I believe will equip our students to thrive in society. I currently sit on the Wellbeing and Inclusion Committee and I’m the linked governor for Wellbeing, Behaviour and Attendance.
I currently have two children at TPS and when I’m not working or being ‘mum’s taxi’, I love yoga, card games (I’m competitive!), walking, boxsets, reading and large glasses of wine with friends!
