Co-opted Governor
Committees: Finance & Resources
A Chartered Accountant by profession, I took early retirement in 2017 having decided that 35 years of commuting was sufficient. My entire working life was spent in the City. Having trained with Deloittes I then had lengthy spells with two Japanese investment firms and, latterly, a fast-growing international payments company where I was the Finance Director.
I am a local man, born and raised in Weston and having lived in Hitchin for many years. My son went to Hitchin Boys’ School – as did his father – and my daughter went to Hitchin Girls’ School. My wife also teaches locally so we have a good knowledge of, and huge respect for, the educational establishments in this area.
Due to the demands of the job I never really had the opportunity to involve myself in community matters whilst I was working, so I am delighted to be able to contribute now. In addition to my Governor role I am Treasurer of both a village hall trust and the trade body representing the International Payments industry. I also volunteer at Whipsnade Zoo which gets me away from numbers and which I greatly enjoy.
