Helen Davies

Parent Governor

Committees: Curriculum & Progress

I originally trained as a scientist, obtaining a Doctorate in Physiology from the University of Liverpool. Having worked in a research laboratory for several years, I decided that a more people-facing career would suit me better and for the past 20 years I have used my scientific knowledge overseeing membership, events and training within scientific and medical professional societies. My job roles have given me a range of experience of managing committees, strategy, finance and people.

I have been a parent at TPS for 7 years; my daughter has just left sixth form and will be starting at The University of Sheffield and my son is moving into year 11. I applied for the role of Parent Governor as I realise the importance of having a committed team of governors supporting a school. I was previously Chair of Governors at Wilshere-Dacre Junior Academy.

Outside of work I enjoy long walks with our Cocker Spaniel Binki and I love watching football; I am a longstanding Manchester City fan and spend most weekends on the sidelines watching my son play for local teams.
