TPS Student Wins Prestigious Music Award at the 2021 BTEC Awards

Outstanding learners, tutors, teachers, colleges and schools saw their achievements recognised today in the 11th annual BTEC awards ceremony, held online for the second year running due to coronavirus.

The ceremony was co-hosted by presenter of the United View, YouTube influencer and BTEC alumnus and ambassador, Flex and sports presenter and events host, Gemma Care. 19 category award winners were celebrated from around the UK and internationally in subjects such as Health and Social Care, Performing Arts, Engineering, IT, Business and Sport.

The outstanding achievements of Rowan Scourfield from The Priory School were celebrated as he was awarded the prestigious BTEC Award for Music Learner of the Year 2021. Rowan shone through as a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.  He is passionate about creating music and supporting others, and his Music Practice BTEC has enabled him to develop and hone his skills as well as giving him a great insight into the music industry. His 2020 album racked up 3,000 streams on Spotify and was featured on BBC Look East, BBC Introducing Live and the online festival ‘The Future Is Now’. At school he is a Music Leader, organising different groups and setting up rehearsals both live and virtual. For his classmates, he is the ‘go to’ person for help and advice, and he always supports willingly. A life and career away from music would be unthinkable for this talented young person who is always open to learning and innovation.

Rowan said: “I am delighted to win this award and feel it is an honour for me and the great music department at The Priory School.”
