Bob Harris

Partnership Governor

Committees: Curriculum & Progress, Finance & Resources

I have spent the last 40 years in the IT Industry and, since 2014, have been running my own IT Consultancy. Prior to that I held the position of Chief Technology Officer at a national broadcaster and before that an international retailer. I have also worked in IT in insurance and banking. Having chosen to transition into retirement in 2022, I am now focusing on pro-bono work, charity-related activities (I am a Rotarian) and on becoming a School Governor. Today I remain ‘hands-on’ with Technology, and have a particular interest in STEM Education.

Through my work within Rotary I see the adverse impact on individuals resulting from a lack of opportunities, and I feel strongly that providing a high-quality and well-rounded education for our young people is crucial to their future success and wellbeing. Becoming a Governor at The Priory School is one way I can contribute to this.

Born in Potters Bar, I have lived in Hitchin since 1976 with the exception of a short spell in Shefford, returning when thoughts of starting a family came to mind.  My wife works locally, my now grown-up son and daughter attended school in Hitchin and, after university, both have become teachers.

In my spare time, increasingly taken-up by our two grandchildren, I am very much a ‘foodie’ and fanatical about barbequing (charcoal of course!).
